Plan your escape
Start with the feeling
Tell us what you are escaping from and we will point you at the right section, the right season and the guides to start with.
Step one
What are you escaping from?
We suggest
Escape
Escape is the oldest reason to travel and still the best one. Not a checklist, not a schedule you have to keep, just a place where the noise drops away and the days get their shape back.

Step three
How we would plan it
01
Fix the season before the place
Almost every destination has two or three months where it is at its best and one where it is a mistake. Decide the window first and the shortlist gets much shorter.
02
Stay in fewer places, longer
Two bases in ten days beats five. Travel days cost more than people think, and the second half of a stay is usually the good half.
03
Leave the afternoons empty
Book the flights, the beds and one or two things that genuinely need booking. Everything else is better decided on the day.
